Introduction To Environmental Portraits

Introduction

Marcus Thomson is one of the best Environment Portraiture Photographers in Australia.

When he's not travelling the country shooting for major corporates and companies, he's found tracking down all sorts of interesting folks to photograph for exhibitions.

Such was the case with the "Mentone Beach Icebergers Project."

The "Icebergers" are a bunch of hardy souls who swim 365 days a year in Melbourne's at times extremely brisk Port Phillip Bay. Marcus invited us along for his shoot of these hardy, charismatic swimmers. He then joined Mel to chat about the shoot a few days later, in the relative warmth of the Photography Campus HQ.

Watch this course and you'll discover how you can create classic, authentic Australian portraits with as little technology as an old $100 flash, a cheap light stand, some garbage bags and a healthy sense of adventure.

And meet Marcus, an unassuming country lad with a great eye.

Some great tips about lighting and setting the scene. It made me feel cold. Brrrr.
